Suggest Treatment For Bacterial Infection In Eye

Question: We're a family of four, my husband, our two boys and I. Our two boys both had a little cold virus last week. The older boy, age 6 came down with a secondary bacterial infection in his eye after taking him to the Opthamologist as it's happened before. He's been on antibiotic drops. Then the baby came down with ear infection in both ears and his eyes were getting a little gooky too. Pediatrician put him on 10 day antibiotics to clear up his ears and said eyes would clear along with it. Then the husband picked up the cold virus and the subsequent bacterial eye infection. Then there's me, cleaning everything in site! My eyes started to get scratchy feeling and watery. Went to eye dr and she said mine looks like an allergic reaction to something, maybe my cleaner I'm using. I use Clorox wipes on everything! Now, all the boys eyes are clearing and doing well. To add I had a hair color apt on Saturday, my scalp often itches after for a week or so, probably from the bleach color she uses I assume. So, this morning I wake up with a random rash, itchy bumps behind my left ear, on the nape of my neck, a little around my shoulder cuff and front of neck/chest and I feel it down middle of my back but I don't see it there. It's small/med red spots in those areas, itchy and burning feeling, but not warm to the touch. I'm prone to getting heat rash and I wore a huge bulky sweater yesterday as it was in the 40's, but these red spots look a bit larger than in past. I don't know. Could it be my body fighting off a virus? I'm reading about the location of these bumps and everything says lice or bed bugs, that freaks me out. Noone else has anything like that right now in the house. It must be heat rash right I'm hoping? Help? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Could be just allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam!

Welcme to HealthacareMagic.

I understand your concern.I read your family's condition and good to know that they have all recovered except you.I would like to say that your rashes does not ssem to be anything serious.

It could be due to some new foods that you took, specially foods like nuts, some new types of meat, fish, etc. You could be having a food allergy. You should also watch out for any new soaps, detergents or shampoo.

Try taking benadryl to get relief in case it is allergic. If you do not get relief then you need more strong antihistaminic drug.Eat healthy to boost your immune system. You can try taking bath in epsom salt to check for any relief in case it is scabies, since scabies rash are also very itchy.

Hope it helps.Feel free to ask more.

Thanks so much Dr for your response. I really think it may be an allergic reaction to something now. It's still very itchy, but the appearance seems to be slightly less red and bright tonight. Also, my husband just found a tiny little down feather on the couch from one of our pillows that I hadn't realized. I had a past reaction to down feathers years ago. That could be it! I'm nursing a baby, so I've not been taking any Benadryl or other meds. My mom suggested Witch XXXXXXX for the heat rash in past, so my husband has been helping me keep it clean and cool with witch XXXXXXX Hopefully that doesn't make it worse. I'm certain and hopeful it's not scabies. If it were, wouldn't my symptoms be everywhere? And my family would have some sort of symptoms as well I would assume. Hopefully not, praying for allergies. Guess we'll see!
Thanks again for your help! Attached are few photos we just took in case that helps your determination. Thanks again,

Brief Answer:
seems like allergies

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Thank you so much for writing back!

Yes those pictures do not seem like scabies. It does not seem to be severe. Looks like allergy is the sole cause for this. Avoid all allergent you can. Try using calamine lotion over the rash to cool it down. Avoid itching it with your nails and inoculating it with infection.

Get well soon!
