Brief Answer:
diagnosis should be confirmed

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.
Well, first, the exact diagnosis must be confirmed by tracheal swab culture. Bacterial tracheitis is not common disease. Most infections are in upper part of respiraotory tract and pharyngitis also goes with pain i projection of trachea. Also, viral tracheitis is more common and dry cough is sign of it. Productive cough, fever and pain progression may indicate bacterial one and in this case you should use 3. generation cephalosporines or clyndamicin and in severe cases vancomycin. Wish you good health. Regards
