Brief Answer:
Decreasing masturbation until your infection resolves is wise.

Detailed Answer:
Ballanitis is not a part of the body. It is an infection of the head of the penis - and the foreskin if you are uncircumcised.

It would be wise to not irritate the area with masturbation until the problem has resolved. Since you describe red dots, you may have a candidal infection of the skin of the penis (candida is a yeast that can overgrow in the genital area). We see this frequently in urgent care clinics and it usually resolves with a topical anti yeast/antifungal cream. Try over the counter Lotrimin (clotrimazole) cream - this should be used for 1 month, although the infection should be better within 2 weeks. You can pick it up at Walgreens or any drug store.

If you are uncircumcised, be sure to retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean it. Apply the anti fungal (clotrimazole) after the area is washed and gently dried.

If you are uncircumcised and having any problem retracting the foreskin because of swelling, please go in to be seen by your dr. or urgent care.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.

Brief Answer:
Regarding rash on body:

Detailed Answer:
I did not realize that you were having these in multiple sites. It's possible that this is an allergic reaction, or that you have wider spread yeast or fungal infection in which case an oral anti fungal would be more appropriate than a topical one.

I advise that you go in to a clinic/dr. so that this rash on your arms and scalp can be seen in person. I thought that the rash was on your penis. If there is no rash on the penis, then masturbating would not be a problem. It's possible that you noticing the rash on your arms and scalp more (more itching) because of the flush that occurs with orgasm.

But please do go get this rash looked at. I doubt that it is an STD, but it should be sorted out.

Will lotrimun help with the arm rash
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh (18 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
It might, but best to get the rash checked.

Detailed Answer:
Lortrimin is an anti fungal/anti yeast cream. So if the rash is from candida or a fungus, yes the Lotrimin should help. But I am really not sure what we are dealing with with this rash, so best to have it seen. Lotrimin has a low risk of causing harm, but it isn't really meant to be used on an extensive area of skin. For this you would take an oral anti fungal (IF it is a fungal rash).

In the meantime (before you get in to be seen), if you are very itchy, consider taking an antihistamine such as Zyrtec, which you can get over the counter at a drug store. The generic of it if you prefer, cetirizine, is less expensive.
