Brief Answer:
Multiple problems

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I would need to know the specific complaints you have:
* Are you having bilious vomiting?
* How long are you having the complaints?

I feel that you have multiple independent underlying problems.

Regarding the complaints of hot flashes and sweating, the symptoms indicate that you are possibly suffering from hormone deprivation. Such a thing is commonly encountered in perimenopausal or post-menopausal women. If that is the case, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) could provide relief. You need to visit a gynecologist to get evaluated and tested. He would be able to set up the right regimen for you.

Regarding your reflux and bowel problems, in order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take Prilosec (omeprazole) once daily before breakfast.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fiber intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* If I had a patient like you I would perhaps have suggested Prodep (fluoxetine) 20 mg tablet (long term anxiolytic and a prescription drug) once daily for at least 2 months (it may take time for the action to set in). Discuss about this with your treating physician.
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.
* Stress reduction has a very important role to play. Yoga and meditation should help.

Regarding your hiatal hernia, I need to know if you have any other issues other than GERD.

Hopefully that should help. Let me know if I could help further.

Helllo, Thank you for your reply.

I had stents put in 3 years ago so my cardiologist took me off of all HRT. They do not feel like the sweats I had going through peri and actual menopause 10 years ago.

They feel like a heater is held to my stomach and then I get nausea and then 5 mins later have the chills like there is a fan blowing. I just had a fasting blood CBC with excellent results for cholesterol and blood sugar. I take thyroid meds. I don't have a fever nor heartburn. No gallbladder pain. I do have a bit of diverticulosis. Been drinking a few sips of water all day. The Ursodiol has worked in the past and prescribed by my Gastro Enterologist. Just t is after hours here and sometimes my Magnesium levels get out of wack. Thanks for your suggestions. Any other thoughts?

Yes it is the Bile that creeps up my esophagus causing spasms, I have worsening non diabetic Peripharal Neuorpathy and worsening simple tremor have been evaluated thoroughly by a neuro-psyhcologist and document some brain injury after a mini seizures. sometimes I lose my balance and fall down. I just retired after 20 years of teaching after I had panic attack. I been on leave since FeB.

Brief Answer:
Methylcobalamin can help

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Regarding the peripheral neuropathy. I would suggest that deficiency of Vitamin B12 could also give rise to such a presentation. Taking methylcobalamine (Vitamin B12) 1500 mcg supplement per day for at least a couple of weeks should help in improving the situation.

Regarding the night sweats, even if it feel like what it felt like 10 years back, I would still consider the possibility of hormone deprivation. So, kindly get it evaluated and managed accordingly.

Let me know if I could help further.
Regards
