Question : I have been having trouble getting rid of bladder infection. I get one about once a year. I used the site MYUI and they prescribed a 3 day round of antibiotics on 9.14.2104 it came back in Oct and he did another round of 3 day antibiotics. I told him my doctor in XXXXXXX normally does a 7day round. Should I be going to see a regular doctor at this point

Brief Answer:
It is better to see

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.

I have read your query, and understand your concern.
Bladder infection once in an year is nothing to be worried. But, this time you had two episodes in two months- this may be due to inadequate treatment. UTI is usually treated with a 5-7 day course of antibiotics. So kindly see your doctor for a complete cours of antibiotics. You may be asked for a urine routine and culture test. Culture will tell us the bacteria causing the infection and the exact antibiotics to which it is sensitive.
Meanwhile, try to maintain good hydration by drinking enough fluids. Dehydration increases the risk of UTI.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have further questions, I will be happy to help.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
See detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

If, at present you are not on antibiotics for UTI, you need not go now. Just wait for the next episode- if it happens, see your doctor and ask for a urine culture.

If you are already on 7 days course antibiotic now, you can complete the course and do a culture during next episode, because once started on antibiotics, culture is useless.

Hope now you got cleared.
Thank you.
