Suggest Treatment For Bleeding From Ears While On Warfarin

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Aug 2016
Question: My husband wears hearing aids, I just discovered blood on his left ear lobe. He took the aid out , there was blood all around. I cleaned the ear with proxide, just the open area, but I can see blood on farther down & looks like a fresh drop there about to come out. No DR at this time of night, could it be something serious. He is 91 and on Warfarin 5Mg. Very active, but was shocked about this, knows of nothing he could have done to cause. The aid has been in all day.

Brief Answer:
side effect of warfarin is bleeding and this need to be evaluated

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
One of the side effect of warfarin is bleeding. In the absence of any trauma, bleeding from ear needS to be examined and investigated.
I would suggest you to check his skin for any bruise, and other natural orifice for bleeding.
I would suggest you to get it examined by ENT specialist to rule out any trauma in external auditory canal and also to rule out any ear infection or cause of bleeding.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
