Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: I was told by my doctor today that I have a blood clot in my leg (PVD). He has not called me back yet today to schedule surgery, I am wondering how dangerous it is to let this sit and for how long? Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
What medications are you on?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood clot in your leg and all the inconveniences this has caused you. Blood clot is not treated primarily with surgery. Drugs are often used like warfarin/heparin/aspirin etc. for this condition. Surgery is only considered in acute and very severe cases and this doesn't seem to be the case with you. If you are not on any of these medications, I would want to think maybe the information was not well transmitted and it would be prudent to follow up with the doctor's office on this. Beside, are you having any symptoms? please report any to me for further insights.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
