Suggest Treatment For Boils On The Thigh

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Feb 2017
Question: Have been suffering from BOILS On Left thigh.
Too Much pain, unable to sleep since it is on behind side.
Earlier it looked like pimple so we drained when yellow root came and got relief but after 1 day swelling was there around that area and when I checked with the GP present at Sapient GGN told me it is BOILS. taking his medicines but results are very slow. No relief in pain. Am also taking hot water compressor on it. Kindly suggest what I need to do and if need to consult you or special specialist in this case. Will be better if could be consulted physically if it has to be treated by dermalogist.

Brief Answer:
Advice regarding your skin infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am Dr.Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

You seem to have bacterial, skin and soft tissue infection (SSTI) which started as a furuncle and progressed on to cellulitis.

Advent 625 contains Amoxicillin 500mg and Clavulanic acid 125mg. It is a good option in case of SSTI. How many days since you have been on Advent 625? and how often are you taking it in a day?

Right now your main concern seem to be pain and tenderness. Therefore, instead of signoflam I suggest you to take either Combiflam Or Flexon, thrice daily for 3-5 days for more effective pain relief till the time oral antibiotic takes control. Antibiotics may take 2-3 days to become effective.

Cellulitis may take a total 10-14 days of oral antibiotics to resolve, however, if pain and swelling increase or in case you develop high fever, the area may need to be drained.

Can you upload an Image of the affected area? You may upload Images in "Reports Section"

Brief Answer:
Continue oral antibiotic and antiinflammatory

Detailed Answer:
Thank you. I have not recieved the images. Kindly try and upload the images again in "Reports Section". If you face any problems in uploading kindly contact customer care.
As I suggested you earlier it may take 2-3 days for oral antibiotics to take control and before the cellulitis starts going down. Today is your 3rd day on oral antibiotic so you can expect it to improve from now on.
For more effective pain relief you may take either combiflam tab. or flexon tab., 3x daily.
In case it still does'nt improve, swells up more or you develop fever then the area may need to be drained.

Regards
