Question: Hi doctor. My Aunt had an attack of brain haemorrhage last week. Later she got 3 more attacks. Now doctors are saying they need to add a "stunt" to brain to prevent further attacks but they don't want to do it themselves considering the risk involved. I don't understand "stunt" and "risk involved". Can you please help me

Brief Answer:
Stent is a device

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for posting your query.

What I understood from the facts that you have shared is that she might be having "Brain aneurysms" which are a weak or thin spot on a blood vessel wall in the brain that balloons out and fills with blood.

Serious consequences can result if one bursts (ruptures) in the brain, spilling blood into the surrounding tissue. That is what seems to have happen.

When ever this kind of repeated attacks happens one need to close this kind of weakness in the vessel wall and prevent further damage and bleeding incidences.

That is where stent is used.

Possibly the size of this kind of weakness may be more or the location could be difficult to achieve that is the reason why doctors` will be telling you about risk involved.

I do not have much idea about doctors in XXXXXXX but your should try bigger and reputed institute like AIMS who can surely help.

I hope this helps.

Wishing her speedy recovery.
