Question : Hi, i have (what i think is) a jock itch fungal infection that has been going on for 5 days. It was a bright red (itchy) rash looking affliction covering the entirety of my jock region. I have been using a combination of standard over the counter jock itch topical creams, calamine lotion, and aloe vera which has turned it from being itchy and red to purple (ish) red and significantly less itchy (totally manageable amount of irritability). Should i be concerned and consult a physician or is this a sign of healing?
Brief Answer:
a clinical evaluation by a Dermatologist will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms are due to fungal infection.
I would suggest using a skin cream containing antifungal medication like miconazole along with an antibiotic like gentamycin and a steroid like betamethasone. This cream should be applied locally 2-3 times daily. This will help in controlling your symptoms and will help in healing.
If the symptoms persists, you can get yourself clinically examined by a Dermatologist.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
