Brief Answer:
check for bone union

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

I can understand your anxiety. In my opinion, You should first go for a x-ray of the distal femur to see whether bone is uniting or not.

Persistent pain could be due to delayed healing or the infection in the area. Swelling in leg and foot could be due to decreased venous drainage caused by decreased muscle activity or an inflammatory swelling.

There is feature to upload the images and x-rays. If you wish you can upload these so that I can help you in better ways.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.

Take care

Brief Answer:
Fracture seems to be in healing stage.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the x-ray and photos attached. Fracture seems to be in healing stage.
For swelling in leg, keep your leg elevated over two pillows and use a compression stocking. Do regular exercise for proper venous drainage.

Wishing you speedy recovery..

Warm regards.

Brief Answer:
Continue doing physiotherapy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Normally with this type of fracture after operation ,it takes 6-7 month for full recovery. Your case seems to be little bit more complicated, so it might take more time.

Continue range of motion and strengthening exercise under guidance of your physiotherapist. It will also decrease the swelling and associated pain.

As the fracture had involve the joint, there is possibility of osteoarthritis and hence replacement of the knee in the future.

Did you see healing in xray? It's not healed completely. strange you would say in 10 years to 15 years when my doctor said like 2 years and two replacements in my lifetime. And he is talking to me that light duty would be one year. I hit a concrete barrier don't you think I would have soft tissue issues.Did you see any osteoarthritis forming yet? I'm thinking I'm going to have limits. I drive a small car for a living in and out rain or shine. Heavy lifting.

Some osteoarthritis changes present.

Hi,

There is some osteoarthritis changes present in the x-ray. But it not seems that you may require replacement so early (in 2 years).

Yes, your fracture is not healed completely, but there is sign of healing present on x-ray.

Brief Answer:
12 months seem right for light duty.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Yes, 12 months seem right for light duty. With this type of injury, you have to avoid squatting.

For bulging disc in your back, you have to do physiotherapy exercises and avoid forward bending and heavy weight lifting.
