Question: I checked with my doctor and he mentioned I have bronchitis, he prescribed dazit m tablets for 3 months. I'm on the process of quitting smoking to heal more faster. My query is if I take dazit, will be taking out the phelgem from my body in the morning where I spit it out. Sometimes my phelgem is a little dark coloured not all of it but some parts of my phelgem can u clarify if dazit is working for me... I have been taking the meds for 2 days now...

Dear XXXXX,

Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

Dazit is Desloratidine. This is an oral anti histamine drug. It helps to stop running nose and allergies.Given your symptoms of bronchitis, this isn't an ideal choice. This is not working well for you.

Bronchitis is a condition in which the glands lining the respiratory tract secrete excess mucus. This causes one to have a lot of phlegm. The ideal drug in this scenario would be an anti-cholinergic drug. This could be generic Ipratropium or Tiotropium. They both inhibit the secretion by the glands and hence less is the phlegm production. Both these drugs are also available in inhaler forms as well. This helps better lung penetration with minimal side effects.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
