Suggest Treatment For Bruise On The Arms

Question: I had a small spot on my arm last week that looked like a bruise. This week it has grown to a quarter of an inch and looks like a mole. Sometimes in some light I see a little yellow around the edges but not sure the yellow is really there.

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have reviewed the image.

It seems like a bruise - the yellow ring around it is the color change that normally happens in a bruise as it starts to resolve. This color change is because the hemoglobin in extravasated Red Blood Cells (RBC's) undergoes degradation into bile pigments.

This bruise should resolve in about 2 weeks. I suggest you take an oral vitamin C supplement once a day for the time being.
