Question : hi doctor, I have been attending the hospital physio for the past 7 months, the excercises have just caused muscle spasms etc and they have now stopped me from doing them. I have been told that I need major surgery but they don't have the technology to fix me, I also have just been sent for another scan on my bulky uterus with numerous fibroids and my lining just keeps filling till it overflows. have been trying an iud for past 4 months and have been bleeding except for 2 weeks in this time.

Hi dear and thanks for your query.

Having bulky uterus with fibroids, best treatment is IUD because it contains progesterone, the progesterone in the IUD thins the uterine lining cells, so the cells bleed less.

If bleeding is less than what you have had before the time you inserted IUD , it is a good sign because it's full effect is known to occur within one year.

But if bleeding is much more than what you have had before insertion of IUD, better contact with your follow-up gynecologist.

Add in your diet much fluids and iron rich foods.
