Question : Hello,
Thank you for your advice.
I did go to the chiropractor and my hips were out. This was causing my back to also be out.
I was wondering...I have a very bad bunion on my right foot. Since I am on my feet approximately 10 hours a day will this cause my legs and especially my knees to hurt?
It seems when I bend my knees they shoot a sharp in in the knee cap area. I sometimes feels I'm falling apart..

Brief Answer:
Bunion can indirectly affect knee and hip joints.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.

Bunions does not affect the knee or legs directly.
If, however, it is very severe and changes the way you walk and the type of shoes you wear (too big), this can affect your knee and hip joints.

What did your chiropractor mean by you hips and back are out? Did you have any x-rays taken?

Yes, standing for 10hours can put a strain on your hips, knees & feet and cause joint damage in the long run.
The pain you feel in your knee is suggestive of a worn out & inflamed knee joint.
As suggested earlier, I recommend seeing an orthopedic Doctor who can assess and treat you as early as possible to prevent further joint damage. The bunion also needs to be assessed

In the meantime, stay off your feet as much as possible. Wear good supportive shoes with cushioning around the bunion to help with the pain.
Apply anti inflammatory gels and ice pack (covered in a thin cloth) over the area to reduce pain.
Tylenol can provide you with temporary relief of mild to moderate pain.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
