Question: Doctor, I frequently get such tremendous burning in the back of my upper gum and throat when I eat certain foods that leaves scars like open wounds on my gums and throat taking days to heal and making it difficult to swallow. I do not wear my miss fitting dentures. Could that be the reason for the scares, but what then is the reason for the burning. This situation is been an on going problem for a couple of years can you help me. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Nutritional deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having burning ulcers in mouth.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be due to nutritional deficiencies or trauma secondary to hard, sour and spicy foods.

I suggest the following measures to overcome your burning mouth and nutritional deficiencies.

1. clenora moth gel (steoid+anaesthetic) thrice daily local application before food.
2. take soft diet (smashed banana, soups).
3. oral topical application of glycerin.
4. XXXXXXX warm saline water gargle.
5. Resource protein powder with milk twice daily.
6. Multivitamin with zinc for one month.
7. stop taking hard spicy foods.

Discuss all about this with your doctor. You should inform to your doctor about your medications.

In case of persistent symptoms, needs to see an ENT surgeon to rule out other causes with blood tests and local examination.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
