Brief Answer:
Kindly consult a physician or ER doctor for an ECG at the earliest.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

I have read your complaints in details .Please do relax.

Since you have crossed 40 years of age and have complaints of burning sensation of the stomach and chest , it would be advisable to get an ECG done at the earliest. Since cardiovascular events can mimick burning sensation it should be considered the priority at this age.

If the ECG is found normal, your doctor may want to treat you for gastric causes of your symptoms.
Until you see the doctor, I would suggest you start a proton pump inhibitors like Tablet Omeprazole 20mg (Prilosec OTC). It can later be continued one tablet in the morning atleast half an hour breakfast for atleast 2 weeks. Further your doctor may also suggest investigations like Gastro Intestinal Endoscopy to diagnose the condition and treat it accordingly.

You need to make certain dietary and life style modifications like:
1. Avoid oily and spicy food.
2. Avoid Alcohol and smoking.
3. Take bland diet rich in fibres and fruits and vegetables.
4. Donot skip meals.
5. Instead of taking three large meals , have six small meals. Dont stay empty
stomach for more than 2 hours.
6. Have a fullfilling breakfast and cut down on other meals.
7. Donot lie down immediately after meals.
8. Have your dinner atleast 2 hours before bed time.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .

Do write back if you have any further doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Riyanka
