Brief Answer:
Hot compress will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the hip due to bursitis can be relieved with a hot compress with a local analgesic gel instead of a cold compress. This will help in better blood supply to the area to decrease inflammation. Do avoid weight bearing on the leg and let him rest. Lidocaine patch will also help. Avoid giving him any more pain killers.
I hope this answers your query.
