Question: I am a 50 year-old female. I had gallbladder surgery about 6 weeks ago and did great- Went back to work in 3 days. Now I have a pain in the calf of my leg. Although I did slip about a week ago and stretched the leg pretty far. I have No swelling, no redness and no heat- The leg is just sore when I put weight on it and in a small area to the touch. I am concerned that this could be a blot-clot, although I do not seem to have the classic symptoms. Is it possible for a muscle strain to hurt when the leg is touched?

Brief Answer:
Likely calf muscle pain due to overstretching.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

From all these facts you have posted here,it is most likely a calf muscle pain due to overstretching of leg muscles or it could be also related to certain posture but highly unlikely to be due to some blood clot.

However, clinical inspection of the calf muscles will confirm it.

Also, yes one might hurt at strained muscle when it gets touched by finders but it more depends on the how the muscle was stretched earlier.

For that,I will advise you NOT to bother about any other issue like blood clot and to take over the counter pain killers (like naproxen 400 mg or ibuprofen 400 mg) for symptomatic relief from this pain.Topical pain killer gel would also be a good choice.

Ice application will also be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Ensure that you maintain proper fluid intake with electrolytes balance.

Take bed rest for 1 day and maintain a posture which is comfortable to you.

We may expect to see improvement within 2 or 3 days and in case,if not then it will need further evaluation by complete clinical examination of the calf muscles by some local doctor.

Hope this will help you.
