Question : I have a minor split skin, that is just below my tail bone, it is painful if i touch it. I am confused as there is no lump or so, i don't think its a pilonidal cyst. The cut is slightly red and burns if i touch it.
i applied some sophramycin cream to it. Please help me to know what should i do?
If its a symptom of pilonidal cyst then which antibiotic should i take?
Or which doctor should i seek for such cases, if there is any requirement to do so.
PLEASE HELP ME.

Brief Answer:
Fungal infection of natal cleft region

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I completely understand your concern and I hope I am able to help you for the same.
I have seen the attached picture.

You seem to be having Candidiasis of the natal cleft region which is a fungal infection.
You need not worry since it is not a pilonidal cyst.
It is just a minor skin infection which will heal with treatment.

First some general precautions:
Wear cotton clothes and undergarments in order to reduce the sweating.
Do not apply any kind of oils / moisturizing lotion over the affected area .
Just give warm saline compresses over the affected area twice a day and then apply an antifungal cream.
Something like clotrimazole cream available as candid cream helps in most cases.

In case of severe itching, take some antihistamine once a day .
I am sure that if you continue to take the above treatment for 7 to 10 days, the skin lesion will heal completely.

Hope it helps
