Question : I cant make an amendment to my current pending question with the neurologist.... So i am posting here... What is the most likely cause of thenar atrophy and pain? My thenar muscle is showing signs of wasting and had a constant dull ache especially when moved in certain directions.

                                    Brief Answer:
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Thenar muscle wasting with difficulty moving with some pain should be focussed for local compressive neuropathies. Carpal tunnel syndrome is common in your age . You need electromyographic studies and nerve conduction studies of the affected hand to sort out and that will need a neurologist to decide and manage accordingly. FInd one and let them help.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
