Brief Answer:
If more swelling and pain is there then antibiotic injections are preferred

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Local antibacterial creams like fusidic acid alone won't help. If pain and swelling is more then antibiotic injections are preferred for faster effect. I usually give cefotaxime for such case. But if mild ceftum (cefuroxime) can be taken orally. If there is no improvement then you have to switch on to injection antibiotic. You can approach your GP for this.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
