Question : 30 yr male, 350lbs, conjested cough for 2 weeks. he feels his throat fills up, even more noticeable when trying to talk.

We have no reply yet. Will it take longer?

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days, occasionally it takes more time. However, in such a case it would be advisable to get your blood checked for complete blood count. It will indicate if there is a bacterial infection.

I would insist you to take steam inhalation. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief. Also give him some antiallergic like cetirizine once daily for the next few days.
