Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion And Wheezing While Treating COPD
COPD treatment
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You have severe COPD and been having trouble with your COPD at night . For the treatment of COPD you need a controller drug and a rescue drug. For controller drug we usually recommend a steroid inhaler. Most commonly as advair, symbicort, flovent or qvar. There is another controller medication called spiriva which is once daily that will also help the wheezing and reduce the sputum production. If your prescription plan does not approve of spirva they usually substitute Combivent. You should be using these medication daily to prevent wheezing. If you are using your rescue inhaler more than 1-2 times per week then your controller medication is not effective and needs doses increased.
If all these measures don't work then you may need a nebulizer or oral steroids for a short while.
In summary
1. controller medications
2. Advair or symbicort as controller medications
3. Spiriva or combivent for reduce secretions and prevent wheezing
4. Steroids short term for flairs
5. Nebulizers

Advair 125 and Spirva.
I now sleep 3-6 hours. I would prefer to sleep up to 10 hours as I did before, while using Symbicort and Atrovent.
I do have doctors appointment tomorrow morning, but any other comments would be appreciated.

Increase advair
Detailed Answer:
Your advair dose is low. I would recommend increasing it to 250 twice daily
