Question: Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Just following up on the previous query, Coughing actually has not decreased, nothing is working. Vaporub, honey tulsi mixture, hot steam have not brought any improvement. She is feeling chest pain sometimes, and struggling to talk. Planning to go to the emergency of the nearby hospital.

Should she try any antibiotics? And she still does not have any fever, the temperature is normal.

Brief Answer:
She needs antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If the coughing is persistent even after taking all the home remedies, then a throat infection is likely. It may not be associated with fever. If there is a pain on swallowing and chest pain then she needs a throat swab culture followed by proper antibiotics. There are few antibiotics that can be safely used during pregnancy. You can consult a gynecologist and get the appropriate medicines prescribed. Do not self medicate as it can be dangerous.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
