Question: chronic urinary tract infections. as a c6 quadriplegic I catheterize 4 times a day. I'm 24 years post injury and cannot shake these bad infections. I went sepsis in last November and I'm running out of antibiotics thatwork for me.
Is there anything I can do to avoid these infections?

Brief Answer:
2 available options in my opinion, please discuss with your doctor :)

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Sadly these are common problems faced by many individuals with a similar medical history as yours, and there are 2 solutions in my opinion:

1. Supra-pubic catheterisation: Can be used for a duration of 3 months, if other precautions are followed

2. The use of silicon catheters: Are special catheters that need not be changed for a duration of 3-6 months, but then again special precautions and care needs to be followed and taken sir

Please do discuss these options with your doctor, and I am sure it will save you the trouble of daily catheterisation, and most certainly from catheterising yourself four times a day.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
