Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cold And Cough

Question : Hi Doctor,

I am 31 year old lady. Since childhood i have been facing problem of cough and cold. as i m easily susceptible to cold. My head gets heavy and swelling can be seen on face during winterseason. My throat gets choked and ears get blocked sometime. i have shown to many doctors. consulted homeopathy and allopathy doctor as well. every time its generalised answers that take precaution. because of this i feel so weak and even my HB is not more than 10. can you please suggest what to do to stop its reoccurence. B complex capsules had been taken in past and medicines like azee, roxid and dolo had been tried. I easily catch cold and fever throat infection.

I have taken HB tone too for a month to nicrease my resistance power. Kindly advise.

Boost up the immunity is the best way

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Madam.

Since you are suffering from cough and cold problem and easily catch throat infection and fever, we need to boost the immunity.

I would suggest you to do the following.
CT scan of the Sinuses and X-ray of the Chest to 'rule out' any underlying problem as a primary cause or as aftereffect / sequel of the allergy.
You may please take the following treatment in consultation with your Doctor / ENT Surgeon.
Tapering dose of oral steroids like deflazacort over 3 weeks.
Cetirizine with montelukast.

Vitamin A & Vitamin D in therapeutic dosage.
Continue with multivitamins / anti-oxidants for 6 months and Iron for 3 months- these are known to strengthen the immunity system.
Steroid nasal spray as and when necessary.
Antibiotics should be taken only if there are signs and symptoms of infection.
Steam inhalation.
And
Most important to keep away from the allergens causing all such problems. Your keen observation alone can find what to avoid. This is basically the mainstay of your treatment. ( sorry for repeating )

Get a Doctor with whom you can discuss this and get a proper examination and prescription. Please remember to complete the courses and to start the spray or the tablets the moment problem starts. This may help to alleviate further problems of throat infection and fever.

Are there any factors which you must have noticed till now that increase your problems? Any relieving factors like change of place like going to vacation far away from home ? Is your problem only in particular seasons or all round the year ? I hope all other blood tests are normal.

Thank you so much Doctor. I agree my immune system is not so strong like others. Weather changing to cold causes this to me. I easily get head ache if exposed to strong sun like in summer season. Change in water is also the cause to some extent as that had caused me bronchitis once. i cant have ice cream curd very easily. as soon as winter starts my head nose and yes chest (sometimes) too feels like blocked with diffculty in breathing. I am using nasal spray but not always. sometimes my cheeks feels like getting pain too. because of this my body temperature is always above than normal. i feel easily tired and cant do things like other normal strong people(gals) can do. i will surely follow your advise. but can i discuss above dosage as recommended by you, with him?
