Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!

I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:

1. You are reporting to have constipation. These finding may be related with :
- large bowel issues like tumors
- gastroparesis ( please specify if you have diabetes)
- IBS with constipation.
2. I agree with your doctor that you need to do colonoscopy and after that motility study test to rule out gastroparesis.
3. With regards to colonoscopy preparation I would suggest as follows :
- I agree with you it is difficult in such cases
- you need a long time preparation it means that 1 week before the procedure you should start to use stool softener like lactulosis 2 teaspoons per day.
- take plenty of water 3- 3 lt per day
- use olive oil 2-3 teaspoons per day
- use 3 fiber packs 3 per day
- use one enema every day.
3. After that, one day before colonoscopy procedure you will do the standard colonoscopy preparation with clean prep/ magnesium sulphat and 6-8 lt of water.

If you have other concerns I would be glad to assist you.

I have already tried to have the colonoscopy, however I could not get cleaned out. I can't drink the prep as it makes me sick to my stomach. While I was at the clinic to have the colonoscopy done they did 3 enemas with very good results but still not clean. The only thing I can think of for that would be to put me in the hospital and do consecutive enemas until I am clean. Does that sound like something that would be doable?

And yes I am diabetic

Hi back,

Yes, you can be hospitalised and get cleaned for colonoacopy.
Especially if you are diabetic. In such cases bowled preparation is more difficult and hypoglycemia may occure.
Otherwise if start preparation 1 week before procedure with stools softener it will be more easy to get cleaned at last day.

Hope it was helpful to you!
