Brief Answer:
Possible allergic cough.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.

Can you give me some more information?

For how long have you had this cough?
Do you have other symptoms of a viral infection- runny nose, fever, sore throat?
Do you have shortness of breath?
Have you been using any medicine?
Do you have history of asthma?

I am worried that that may be an allergic cough and that to rule out asthma, you will need a check up of lungs. So my recommendation would be to consider a visit to your local doctor.

Let me know the answers of the information above and I will be happy to answer.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako.

Brief Answer:
Possible post viral infection cough

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thank you for the follow-up question.

The cough and the sore throat is indicative of a viral infection. Maybe together with the strep throat you are having an upper respiratory tract infection.
In this case the cough may last up to 3 weeks.

What I would recommend it is to drink plenty of water, lots of teas with honey. Also since it is a dry cough, taking a benadryl or any other antihistaminic may help relive the cough.

If the cough lasts more then 3 weeks, if you start having fever or shortness of breath, or if you feel that you are getting worse- I would recommend seeing a local doctor in this case, or return to the same doctor for a follow-up.

Hope this is helpful.
