Suggest Treatment For Chronic Cough

default
Posted on Thu, 4 May 2017
Question: i have a cough that has not gotten any better over several years. I am seeing an allergy/asthma doctor and she has me on a shot regimen as well as three different inhalers as of Friday two nasal inhalers and Mucinex currently. I am tired of the cough and it is so bad I have thrown up several times over the last month. Do I need to see a Pulmonologist? I know I has sleep apnea as well.

Brief Answer:
You should see a pulmonologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking in HCM

I can understand your concern.

According to the history you explain seems that this medication does not help so much.
Yes in my opinion you should see a pulmonologist for further lung examinations.

I would recommend you to do a chest CT,an ECG and a Spirometry (if you have not gone already).
If they come negative for lung diseases than i would add to the treatment oral steroids for two weeks and i am sure you will be better.
Another thing to evaluate is the gastric reflux because it is one of the common cause of the chronic cough. For this you can take (Nexium twice for a month)

Please talk with your doctor for the above

Take care and feel free to ask me again
