Posted on Tue, 27 Dec 2016
Question: Hello Dr.
I have a thick mucus in the nose
How can I get rid of it
I went to a specialist nose,
But it did not give me the correct treatment,
The doctor said you have a deviation in the septum,
But it did not address the colored nasal secretions
What should I do,
Although chronic mucus since childhood

Brief Answer:
Chronic rhinitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the question
As per your complaints, it seems to be that you have chronic nasal infection that is due to the deviated nasal bone.
I want a xray pns to rule out any sinusitis
For now you take amoxyclav 625 twice daily
Take a decongestant tablet
Also take xylometazoline nasal drops three times daily
The secretions are colored because of bacterial infection and will be ok once you take proper antibiotic

please follow up with a xray picture
would like to help u in future too

Brief Answer:
Chronic rhinitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Please continue the same medicine..the nasal secretions take few days to clear as the mucosa takes sometime to heal

I would say, you take steam inhalation and than put decongestant nasal drops..that would clear the secretions gradually

Also add ambroxol to you medicines, that will help to thin out the secretions and would help in their drainage

Hope you will be fine soon..
Good day
