Question : Last February I came down wiath s severe sinis infection. It lasted for 3 months and I lost 30 pounds. I was on three different ntibiotics, had acute phryangitis, They said it was a viral infection. This February at the same time I have gotten another sinus infection. It has lasted 2 months and I have been on 2 antibiotics. I have swelling and pain. This one started in my eyes. I have done everything possible to help it and nothing works............i am starting to get depression and axiety. I don't feel that the doctors help because they just keep giving you another antibiotic. If its from a virus the antibiotics won't help. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation should help.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Sinusitis is an infection of the sinuses, the air pockets contained in our skull. It is most often viral although occasionally there is a super added bacterial infection present.

Antibiotics or any other medicines cannot reach the sinuses properly and sinuses have poor blood supply. Antibiotics may relieve the super added bacterial infections but the unresolved underlying infection may flare up subsequently.

Taking steam inhalation can provide relief as it helps in opening up the openings of the sinuses that have been blocked by thickened mucus. Water in the form of vapor will reach deep inside and will help dilute the thickened mucus.

Take rest and plenty of fluids to drink. You may take Naproxen tablet when required, in case you have pain.

Hope I have answered your query.
