Suggest Treatment For Chronic Sinusitis

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Jan 2015
Question: I suffer from acute chronic sinusitis I recently was at my dentist Dec 24 2014 because it appeared that a tooth was abscessed. I was assured the abscess was not from my teeth but rather from my sinus. in applying light pressure to the abscess I could trace the source up to my sinus. I was told to seek the consult of a pathologist to have a biopsy done on the abscess.

I finished a 10 day treatment of Levaquin teva-floxacin 500
on Dec 21 2014.

I am feverish, extremely tired, I wake up every four to six hours with head aches and sore eyes.

Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM.

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

My name is Dr Muhammad Ahmad & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.

First impression:

Your history and signs and symptoms give me the impression that you are suffering from chronic sinusitis aggravated at the moment with super added, most probably bacterial infection.

Most appropriate doctor for this:

Have you visited any ENT doctor lately? if yes then please tell me in detail what was his impression what did he say and what medical or surgical intervention was done.

If you haven't met any E.N.T doctor yet then i will strongly advice you to set a visit with one because if this has something to do with sinuses an ENT would be the best option.

Your doctor might want to get
1-Your blood work-up.
2-Oblique x-ray of sinuses.
3-Culture of your abcess or infection (the bug you have might be resistant to the drugs you are taking)
4- Even a CT scan might be required if he find something requiring surgical intervention.

Medication:

As i have already mentioned the germ causing your issues may be resistant to the drug you have been taking lately and in this case in my opinion we should get a germ culture which can well tell us what bacterium is causing this and what drug is it susceptible to.

If i were your doctor i would have started you on broad spectrum antibiotic like Clarythromicin (AFTER SENDING YOUR CULTURE) with other drugs like decongestants and Tylenol to relive your pain and malaise symptoms which are tell tale signs of sinusitis.

What to do at the moment:

If i were your physician i would recommend you to take Tylenol 500 mg twice a day to relieve your symptoms ,and an anti-histamin like loratidine 10mg and decongestant for better symptom relief until your visit with ENT was arranged.

Conclusion:
1-Your symptoms are tell tale symptoms of aggravated chronic sinusitis with super added bacterial infaction.
2-You need a complete work up and then medical intervention and surgical if required.
3-In my opinion you should contact an ENT surgeon for this issue.
4- At the moment you can take above mentioned meds for symptoms relief until you get appointment with an ENT doctor.

up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
