Suggest Treatment For Chronic Sinusitis

Question: I visited my ENT in April and complained of an uncomfortable feeling in my throat. They used a scope through my nose and into my throat coming to the conclusion that I had slightly strained vocal chords and possible inflammation from reflux. The feeling went away after about a month. Now for the past 2 months, I have the same feeling but it feels bigger. I feel like I have a lump of mucus deep in my throat that I can't get rid of. If I cough, sneeze, swallow, clear my throat, etc...its still there. Sometimes when I talk for a long period of time, I get the feeling that I want to gag or get nauseous. I have to sleep on my back with my head straight forward to be comfortable enough to sleep. If I turn my head to the left or right, I feel slight pressure or tightness. There is no pain. I do have post nasal drip from severe sleep apnea surgery. I had my tonsils, uvula, adenoids all removed. What could this possibly be? I don't drink or smoke but I did put on a little weight lately and I have been more stressed out than usual but I've had this everyday for the past 2 months.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be chronic sinusitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having throat issues.

As per your clinical details, it appears to be chronic sinusitis.

Throat discomfort or stasis of secretions usually occurs due to upper stream ( nose or sinuses) or lower stream ( lung or stomach).

Your sleep apnea surgery may clear the oral airway but not nasal airway (it will not cure post nasal drip).

I suggest you to do CT scan of para nasal sinuses (sinusitis), repeat Direct laryngoscopy ( acid laryngitis) and x-Ray chest (pa) view ( lung status).

Kindly discuss with your treating doctor about these investigations and go ahead.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
