Posted on Thu, 26 Mar 2015
Question: Hi Doctor,
My daughter is 5 months old. She has been suffering from cold, phlegm and nose block for the last 15 days. The pediatrician suggested XXXXXXX drops and Ascoril. But after 10 days of medication, she still has cold, running nose and phlegm, while cough has subsided.
Do you recommend that we continue with the same medicines or do you suggest something else?

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Medications suggested

Detailed Answer:
Hi...first of all sorry for the question about running around.

By what you quote I feel that she has an allergic tendency now due to seasonal changes and hence got wheezing.

I suggest the following -

1. Oral anti-wheezing medications - Levosalbutamol and if needed based on severity - oral steroids Prednisolone.

2.For cold you can use Cetrizine at 0.25mg/kg/dose every 12 hourly for 3 days.

3. For nasal block, plain saline nasal drops will do, every 4-6th hourly to relive nasal congestion.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
