Question: Am a 39 year old male.....started with cold a week back , and within 2 days my right ear started hurting from outside....and now for last 2 days , the ear has nearly shut down , it seems it is filled with something and i can harldy hear from the right ear... its hurting as well ... i took 650 gms of paracetamol which subsided my pain , however pain came back.... pain is shooting inside the ear...... there's some amount of swelling under and around the ear... while i eat my food , theres heavy drumming sound in the ear along with pain.....What should i do ?

It looks like from your complaints that you have developed a middle ear infection and may need antibiotics for the same.
The infection may have spread from your nose to the ear via the eustachian tube , which is a normal tube between the ear and nose,
You don't have to worry as this is pretty common condition and will resolve with antibiotics.
I would like you to continue the paracetamol and add nasivion/oxymetazoline nasal drops, 2 drops in each nostril 3-4 times a day. Normally I would prescribe cap amoxicillin 500mg three times a day to be taken half hour after food for 5 days, but I strongly recommend you meet your ent doctor first before using antibiotics.
