                                            Question : Hello Doctor,
I am having cold, cough and fever from last 3 days. For these last 3 days, fever was fluctuating between 98.5 to 100.1 degrees. However, I went to the doctor today for the diagnosis and doctor mentioned that it is sinus infection and prescribed me Amoxicillin (500 mg twice a day).
I started taking the antibiotic today morning (1 dose till now) along with Tylenol (Acetaminophen), but my fever is continuously increasing. It reached 101.2 from 100.1 in 9 hours. Please let me know if it is normal for fever to increase in case of infection and will start reducing after a day or 2 of antibiotic.
Thanks & Regards

                                    Brief Answer:
Sinusitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Fever indicates infection. From the complaints it seems to be acute pharyngitis. You should continue with the antibiotics. Take a combination of levocetirizine plus phenylepherine twice daily and xylometazoline nasal drops three times a day. Take a dry cough syrup two spoons thrice daily.
Take all for a week.
Please send me the picture of your throat so that I can suggest you better and advice you accordingly.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available only on prescription.
Take care
Thanks and regards
