Brief Answer:
viral coryza.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, your mother might be having simple flu like symptoms, usually viral origin.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed antihistamines + mucolytics combination drugs twice daily for 5 days.
Decongestant nasal drops + decongestant tablet twice daily for 5 days. Steam inhalation daily 3 to 5 times will help. Hot saline gargle. Any expectorant cough syrup. 10 ml bd.
If symptoms persists, or if she develops fever then it suggest secondary bacterial infection. She would need a course of antibiotics.
I would suggest you to consult with the doctor and discuss my view with him. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
