Brief Answer:
viral coryza.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, your mother might be having simple flu like symptoms, usually viral origin.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed antihistamines + mucolytics combination drugs twice daily for 3 to 5 days. Decongestant nasal drops + decongestant tablet twice daily for 3 to 5 days. Steam inhalation and hot saline gargle would help.
Light easily digestible food.
If symptoms persists, or worsen, then it's suggests secondary bacterial infection. She would need a course of penicillin antibiotics. I would suggest you to consult with the doctor and discuss my view with him. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
