Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I am sorry for the health situation you are going through.

Your case:
- 69 years old male
- symptoms: cold and high acid stomach (hyperacidity); throw up everything you eat; blood noted last night
- concerned how to calm the stomach

Gastroenteritis is often a complication of a cold. As you throw up everything you eat, we should try with a few medications first. But, I'm afraid you can't hold anything. If this happens, I'd highly recommend to go to ER or consult your physician as soon as possible as you might need parenteral medications and replacement of fluids.

Anyway, the most important thing is to keep you well hydrated. Try to drink plain water with oral rehydration salts (ORS). Do not force yourself to eat as long as you can't keep anything.

Lemon soda drink can also help with vomiting and hyperacidity. Antacids can help ease stomach hyperacidity together with Zantac. Can find them over the counter.

Anti-nausea medications or syrups can be used. Can also find them over the counter: ask for anti-nausea med.

Next, probiotics will help stabilize intestinal flora and ease your current symptoms.

Again, if you do not notice any improvement after taking all these over the counter medications, please go to ER or consult your physician as soon as possible especially if vomiting is getting worst.

Wish fast recovery.
