Question: Other than simply elevating his head or giving lots of fluids, are there any newer cold and flu remedies for infants and kids that I can use with my sons? It's a mild cold with some sneezing, slight cough and congestion.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be a viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Most often such symptoms occur due to certain viral infections. Antibiotics are ineffective in viral infections. Irrespective of treatment it usually lasts for 5-7 days before showing signs of recovery. Treatment is supportive.

Giving some antiallergic like cetirizine will help in reducing sneezing. Steam inhalation and drinking plenty of water will help in reducing cough. No other specific intervention is available.

let me know if I could help further.
