paracetamol will help
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
For pain you can give the child brufen or paracetamol.
Also try multivitamin syrup like zincovit.
Apply zytee lotion locally to relieve pain.
It will go away within a week time.
Wash all the cloths and utensils properly.
Hope I helped you.

Hi thank you very much. That is pretty consistsent with the advice received from his GP. One final question is it normal for him not to be able to eat because of the pain. He is drinking fluids fine but I'm worried that he is not able to eat. If this is normal then I will just ride it out for another couple if days without him eating

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up.
It will take some days for child to start eating food.
But try and offer some semisolid food to child.
Till then you can give lot of fluids like oral rehydration solution.
Hope i helped you.
