Suggest Treatment For Cold, Wheezing And Allergic Bronchitis

Question: I am a breastfeeding mother with allergic bronchitis. I have cold and allergic symptoms from past two weeks and have been taking MONTAC LC every night and Asthalin rotocaps with rotahaler. My baby takes my feed every night 2-3 times for about 5-12 minutes. The baby also has cold and cough from 2 weeks and she developed wheezing from past 4 days.
When i have symptoms of allergy, or taking MONTEC LC, should i not feed my kid? Is my kid at the risk of getting asthama because of my breast feed?? or any side effects because of my medication? The baby is 25 months old.

Brief Answer:
Wheezing and cold in child is not related to your medications or disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You have allergic bronchitis and you are taking montac lc and asthalin rotacaps for this.

Montac lc contains montelukast and levocetrizine while asthalin has salbutamol. Both these drugs doesn't pass through breast milk, so there will be no side effects of these medications in baby.

Your child is not at risk by breastfeeding during your allergic episodes. However normally, it is found that if parents have allergy of some kind then there are chances that child may develop allergy at a later age. But there is no contraindication to breastfeeding, as a matter of fact breast milk has immunoglobulins which increase immunity in child.

Your baby might have got cold and wheezing because of cold temperature and it is absolutely not related to your disease or medications.

I hope this will help you.
Take care.
