Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query.

'Laryngo-pharyngeal reflux (LPR)' or 'silent reflux' is generally treated with a combination of the dietary, life-style modifications and medications:
1. Dietary modifications include:
Avoidance or minimizing reflux triggers within the diet such as -
• Alcohol
• Fried/Fatty Foods/Spicy Foods
• Citrus/Tomato-Based Foods
• Caffeinated Beverages
• Carbonated Beverages
• Chocolate

2. Life-style modifications include:
• Avoid smoking
• Taking smaller meals
• Avoid eating within 2-3 hours of bedtime or lying Down
• Raise the head-end of the bed or use a bigger pillow, so as to prevent the acid reflux
• Reduce weight and do relaxation exercises
• Avoid tight fitting clothing

Medications required to treat this problem are:
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, pantoperazole.
• Prokinetics such as metachlopromide, domperidone, to prevent the reflux of the acid from the stomach into the throat.
• Antacids - to neutralize the acid in the stomach

Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.

Brief Answer:
Vitamin C can be safely taken for a brief period..

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

I apologize for not answering the intended query.

The common cold is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract which is self-limiting and resolves within 3-5 days with symptomatic medicines and home remedies.

Common cold can be treated by following measures:
1. Do steam inhalation - this will relieve the nasal congestion as well as the ear block (if any).
2. Drink plenty of warm water - it augments the work of no.1.
3. Use saline nasal spray to clear the nasal secretions and for effective decongestion of the nose.
4. Try taking oral decongestants (pseudoephedrine) available OTC.
5. Avoid smoking/chilled food & beverages/coffee.
6. Vitamin C can be safely taken for a brief period, along with other medicines for LPR.
7. All the above medications (Vitamin C for a brief period) are safe and do not worsen your LPR.

Hope I have answered your query. I will be available for the follow-up queries.
