Brief Answer:
Colds are Viral infections, their treatment depends on severity of symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic,

A 'Cold' is normally caused by a Virus, known as the "Rhino-Virus". It tends to attack the tissues which for the inner lining of your airway (ie your throat, your nose, your sinuses, etc). During their lifecycle, viruses cause inflammation in the cells they infect.

Your own, inbuilt, immune system is the best weapon against such viral invasion. The process takes time, but eventually, the immune system eliminates the problem.
In this time, supportive care is best.

Rest, Plenty of clear filtered water,
Vitamin B supplements,
Anti histamine medication like 'Sinarest', available OTC .
Steam inhalation can help lear the airways.
Anti Inflammatory meds like Tylenol or Paracetamol can be used OTC.

Plenty of sleep will help you the most.

I hope this advice helps, let me know what else I can help you with.
Vinay
