Question: Hi, My daughter4 years has conjunctivitis from last 5 days, it has not come down. We tried all the home remedies as well. Espcially when we tried washing her eyes from salt water , after a hour so she started complaining of sudden pain, followed by watery tears. The next day morning, he was not able to open her eyes as they are swollen. In night also she gets up from sleep and complain of pain and followed by watery tears. We rushed to emergency in morning, Doctor prescribed ciplox-D and anti biotic ointment. Its already 5 days and Concerned. Does washing her eyes with salt water have any adverse effects on her vision ? Currently here eye lids are swollen like water bubbles and we are not able keep drops even though we try to open the eye the white part is not seen. Only the eye lid comes out. Please suggest.

We did. We went to XXXXXXX netralaya famous in bangalore in the morning. He prescribed ciplox-D and an antibotic onitment. Ciplox-D 4 times a day and onitment 2 times a day. But its getting worsen every hour. Thats the reason I'm writing here. Just want to get some support to see if her vision will be OK. Should I take a second opinion? Does washing eyes with salt water will adverse effects ? Does the treatment prescribed by Ophthalmologist seem adequate in your view ?

Brief Answer: Detailed answer follows. Detailed Answer: Hi, If it is from a institute like XXXXXXX netralaya I presume that you should be on the right lines of treatment. But I suggest you to get a second opinion at the earliest possible with out any delay to be doubly sure. A second opinion will not cause a harm rather than missing out on any thing. It is difficult to make any other comment with out examining the child. Watering of eyes along with difficulty to see bright light (if you mentioned previously) and the pain suggest me to ask you to go for a second opinion. Please do not wait any further as you may not get a proper XXXXXXX consultant as it is already late. Take care.
