Question : I haven't been feeling good since February of this year. It started out with nausea and my food tasting the same and vomitting. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. They found polyps in my stomach and they removed them. They came back negative and my colonoscopy was fine. I have a lot of belching which is very embarrassing. I also had a gastric study which showed I wasn't digesting my food properly. I also have a hernia which I'm having surgery for this September. Also after the gastric study I vomited the eggs that I was given. So my question is "what is wrong with me?" I lost 30 pounds and this has been going on since february. I can't take it anymore. Every time I eat I can only eat a very small portion then my stomach feels full. Sometimes I feel nauseous, not always and sometimes I throw up. I am always belching and can't control it. What do you think is going on with me. I also would like to mention that I am on pain medication and have been for 9 years.

Brief Answer:
Post prandial distress syndrome/Gastroparesis/GERD

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

You have post prandial distress syndrome with gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

In post prandial distress syndrome, there will be abdominal fullness/bloating after taking food ( even a smaller meal). In gastroparesis, there will be delayed emptying of the stomach causing abdominal bloating and nausea. In gastroesophageal relux disease, the stomach contents reflux in to the food pipe causing various symptoms like heartburn, nausea, vomiting, belching, regurgitation etc.

You will get benefitted by taking prokinetic medications like Reglan, Itopride etc and Nexium.

Check your blood glucose levels as diabetes is one of the most common causes of these symptoms.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
