Question : i am a very healthy 66 year old man I went to bed one night and woke up in the morning with stiff and sore muscles from my neck down my back, thighs, and calfs. it has moved into my shoulders and groin and my 2 thumbs. the pain gets less as I go through my work day, but is always there. I have had this for aprox. 7 weeks now. a couple of times it felt like it was letting up a little bit.

Brief Answer:
A few blood tests need to be done.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It is possible that you are suffering from a viral infection. Taking paracetamol or acetaminophen as required could provide relief. But the fact that it is still there after 7 weeks concerns me. I think that you should get the following tests done:
* Blood for complete counts, C-Reactive protein, RA factor, ANA, Calcium, TSH

Please let me know the reports once you get them done and I would guide you accordingly.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
