Suggest Treatment For Constipation After Taking Mucinex Cough Medicine

Question : Over a month ago, I took mucinex cough medicine for about a week. After that, I developed bad constipation. Had to go to emergency room. Got better, but then developed stomach pains. I call it a sour stomach, with much belching. Eating makes it worse. This has been going on over a month. Family doctor friend said to try Xantac for a week. Doesn't seem to be helping. I've read that nexium can actually heal stomach ulcers. Should I try that for a week? I'm an otherwise healthy 20 year old, non-smoking male.

I am sorry for the situation you are in.

Now, if I was your caring doctor would advise to run upper endoscopy to determine whether you have ulcer or not.

It is true that nexium is a good alternative for every stomach problems, better than Xantac.

If you were taking antibiotics, I'd suggest to take probiotics.
