Suggest Treatment For Constipation

Question: I can't seem to go to the bathroom, I tried laxatives, herbs, everything, and I'm bloated, nauseous (to the point of gagging), exhausted, ill-feeling, and feel like I have to go. When I try small bits will come out and that's it's. It's been weeks since I've had an actual bowel movement but even so, it's not hard when the little bit comes out. I can go very small amounts and that's it. There is a clear mucus with a brown/orange tint that comes out of my rectum with an extremely pugnant fishy odor.
I even get cramps like I'm about to have my period, but I don't.
I don't know what to do, I feel so exhausted and ill. My dr keeps writing me off for having IBS, but even so, shouldn't I still need to go to the bathroom? Isn't there a way not to feel extremely bloated and have stomach pains.

I've been dieting for over a month and haven't dropped one single pound, I honestly think it's because of not having bowel movements. I also drink 1/2 my body weight in oz of water a day, and still doesn't help.

Thank you for your time,
Hopeless

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are mostly related to constipation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

Your symptoms are mostly related to constipation. Dieting will only make the constipation worse. There is something called as laxative induced constipation. So you want to stay away from daily use of laxative. Rather than daily use of laxative I will suggest that you eat a lot of fruits/salad daily alongwith your regular food. Use suppositories or enema if really constipated and no bowel movement for days.

The most important lifestyle measure that will help you is drinking cleaner water. I think some type of chronic infection of gut may be present. Water is the commonest source of such infections. Try bottled water with lowest ppm (part per million) for a few days. If you feel improvement then the culprit may be some contamination in your drinking water.

Also get an ultrasound of abdomen to rule out structural conditions.

Let me know if it helps.

Hi thank you for your answer. I never have taken daily laxatives, but I did take a laxative tea every other day for about a month. I have always struggled with constipation since I was a little girl. I only drink bottled water but don't know where to look for ppm. If there is a gut infection how do I get rid of that? I know that from having my daughter that I have a rectocele. I don't know much about it except that from the discription of what I had been feeling down below my gynocologist told me I had one. Could it possibly be causing problems?

Brief Answer:
Complete blood count can help point type of infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

PPM is always mentioned on the label of the bottle.

Gut infection can either be bacterial overgrowth or fungal overgrowth. Both are just deviations of normal flora. If we try to suppress one of them, other will overgrow. Still a course of antibiotics is worth trying to suppress bacterial overgrowth (if due to pathogenic bacteria). I would suggest a combination of cefixime and oofloxacin tablets twice a day for 5 days.

Weakened musculature of gut manifested as rectocele. It can sometimes cause or worsen symptoms of constipation. If rectocele is a small one then it can be left alone.

Hope it helps.
